How To Create Income During Active Duty

I'm Rob the Warrior Strategist, a full time entrepreneur and veteran out of San Diego. I havent had a boss in four years and have developed several income streams that enable me to have complete freedom of life and choice of action. I'm not rich, no Lambos or rented mansion. But I REALLY enjoy my life. Its awesome to go to the beach on a Thursday for a fish taco at 2pm.

I'm a 20 year serving veteran and teach a lot of strategies for vet business owners to increase sales, growth and visibility.

I wanted to create a mini guide so that I could share a few things I have learned to help active duty folks start earning income without MLMs, gurus, or any snake oil tactics. Here are a few ways I have earned thousands in sales that ANYONE can do without much effort. I'm not selling anything, just enjoy the content:

Technique: Ebook Creation

How to do it: Go on Canva.com, do the tutorials. Its free and easy to learn graphic design software. Take a poll on social media and ask what topics people want to learn about. Then create an Ebook in that topic, reach out an interview some experts for bonus content. Bonus Tip: E-Junkie is about 12 bucks a month and auto delivers your ebook when someone buys it. Saves you a LOT of time.

My experience: My first good business Ebook, The Profitable Entrepreneur was 10 pages long. I sold $1k in 7 days, no ads. My second one, The Veteran Entrepreneur sold $1k in ONE DAY. All I did was reach out to my FB friends and pay attention to who could use business techniques.

Technique: Membership Site

How to do it: Create a private FB group that is membership only. You need a centralized theme that brings people together and regular content. You can use Paypal to set up your "pay now" buttons. Create a basic one page sale page using Wix/Weebly/Wordpress (free) and have three price points. Eventually you will want to automate your content delivery. The best sites for this are either Buffer, Hootsuite or Edgar. How do you make your site interesting?

*Guest interviews
*Member of the week
*Promotions
*Article shares
*Original content and tactics

My experience: I created a private group on FB called Design Your Paycheck. I teach 15+ income streams like consulting calls, course design, ebooks, and more. I had several people sign up immediately and its a great source of monthly residuals. All I have to do is write a few posts a week and auto post the rest.

Technique: Media Platform

How to do it: Create a media platform and interview famous people. Its SURPRISINGLY easy if you are focused and create a fun platform. What are some options?
A podcast
A blog
A magazine
A Youtube channel
FB Lives
Paperback book

My experience: I started a digital magazine, SHIFT Life Design four years ago. I went 2 years with very little sales but got some GREAT interviews with NY best selling authors, Delta Force, SEAL Team 6, and 7 figure coaches. In the last two years, ad and feature sales bring in about 2-3k each issue.

I use Canva to create the articles, PDF Mergy (chrome app) to bind them, Joomag for the free magazine hosting. I only have to pay for a cover guy and sometimes my writers. We publish 4 times a year so the time is very manageable.

If I was active duty, I would honestly just do video interviews with celebs and influencers, then create a "best of" ebook at the end of the year for an additional stream. As you get listeners, sell advertising and website space/banners for sponsors. Once I started getting an audience, I started getting a LOT of people sending me free clothes, food, and products to review.

Hope this helps you guys, reach out if you have questions, I'm always happy to help.
